The Broome Street Block Party will be a day to celebrate the vibrant culture and history of the Lower East Side, while also examining ways to responsibly contribute to the future of the area. The party was conceived with the help of Transportation Alternatives, a nonprofit group that advocates for bicycling, walking and public transit. Local band, Last Year’s Model, received a mini-grant to organize a fun, friendly day of music, food, merriment and education for local residents and guests alike. Our hope is to create an event that facilitates LES residents to exchange ideas about the cultural and natural environment with their neighbors.
The LES BID and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum have both pledged their support as Community Partners of the event.
